This unit is particularly well suited to apply primer inline or offline in digital inkjet environments. Primer fluids can be applied precisely and the drying and chilling sections in the unit prepare the paper to directly enter into a digital press. Different fluids (primer, cleaning fluid and waste fluid) are handled automatically.

Using a primer unit to apply primer before inkjet printing has several benefits:
- Paper Surface: Evening out the surface of the paper to achieve better print quality
- Color Gamut: A better color gamut is achieved due to pigments staying on the surface of the paper
- Better economics: Less pigments are required in the ink, making the ink less expensive
- Uptime: Paper dust is eliminated from the paper surface and results in better uptime and reliability of the inkjet system and less wear on the print heads

Interfaces to the subsequent machinery can be implemented according to the specific requirements.
